EL DORADO BREWING STOCKTON 1853 - 1955

 

Brewery started in Stockton by Peter & Daniel Rothenbush. The original brewery burned down in 1877 & was rebuilt with a brick building. The brewery was reknown for brewing a steam beer, "Valley Brew" which won awards at the St. Louis World Fair in 1904, the California State Fair in 1905 & the Panama-Pacific Exposition in Eureka, CA in 1915. During prohibition the brewery was able to product with0.5% alcohol, called "Special Valley", which won a total of 15 gold medals. Closed due to competitive market place in October 1955..
